INTRODUCTION

Jockey Club Arts for the Disabled Scheme (www.jcads.net) is a portal website catering for the different needs of people with disabilities. Its content, layout, structure, browsing functions, etc. are compliant to both Hong Kong Government and international standards.

FUNCTIONS and FEATURES

To facilitate the visually impaired persons to browse the web content, www.jcads.net was constructed according to the guidelines of W3C consortium and Hong Kong Information Technology Services Department. The special features included:

a) Increase the contrast between the text, graphics and the backgrounds.
b) Use bigger text size as default.
c) All images have their meaningful Alt-text description.
d) All pages are tested by speech-to-text software.

SHORT-CUT KEYS

To facilitate those users with difficulties in hand movement and mouse control, a set of short-cut keys would be used in www.jcads.net in order to reduce the number of mouse click. Users can go from anywhere in the website to other page by "Just one click".
