School-based Arts Project

The School-based Arts Project comprises of an annual Arts Day and a Joint Special Schools Music and Arts Festival (JSSMAF) for disabled children in Special Schools, Early Education and Training Centres (EETC) and Special Child Care Centres (SCCC).

The annual Arts Day will aim at promoting interest in arts and culture amongst children with disabilities. We would encourage participation by students in Special Schools, EETC and SCCC in interest classes of painting, drawing, Chinese calligraphy, ceramic and singing, as well as mass games like dancing, characters design playground, puppet shows etc.

The JSSMAF will include a variety show and an exhibition. It will aim at providing performance opportunities for disabled students to show what they have achieved in arts and culture training, and at the same time, enhancing public awareness of the benefits of integrating disabled children in arts and cultural life, e.g. enhancing self-confidence, expression and communication skills and creativity.

The "School-based Arts Project" of the "Jockey Club Arts for the Disabled Scheme" (JCADS) is a pilot programme for special schools and special child care centres. It is the fifth year for Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong to co-ordinate this project. We wish to provide students with basic artistic training through diversified arts activities to develop their life-long interest.

The project consists of:

"Arts Day"

Different kinds of arts activities will be organized for students with disabilities in a 1-day visit by the teaching artists.. This year, 5 additional quotas are offered to integrated schools for students with special educational needs (SEN) to experience arts.

"Seed Project"

Deepens students' artistic experience

"Artist-in-Residency"

The project aims at develop arts education in the school in a sustainable manner, which will involves the students, teaching staffs, parents and schools.

Furthermore, participating schools may also have the opportunities to join the JCADS Annual Performance & Arts Exhibition, to unleash participants' creativity and showcase their talents.
